Yderligere produktinfo

Langhe Nebbiolo “Perbacco” is made from 100% Nebbiolo primarily from parcels in Barolo but to a lesser extent also from parcels in Barbaresco. Vinification takes place separately for each parcel. The alcoholic fermentation lasts for approx. 3-4 weeks and takes place in steel tanks. The malolactic fermentation and subsequent maturation (approx. 2 years) takes place in a mixture of French barriques and large barrels of Slavonian oak. Part of the wines from the parcels in Barolo are finally selected for Vietti’s Barolo “Castiglione”, while the rest, immediately before bottling, are combined in large steel tanks with the wines from the parcels in Barbaresco, which thus becomes “Perbacco”.

The wine has a nice, glossy, ruby red colour. The scent is very open and complex with notes of spearmint, violets and delicate red fruits as well as spicier nuances of English licorice and pepper. All these notes come through to the taste, which is very deep and structured. The wine has good storage potential with nice, rounded tannins in the aftertaste. A super Nebbiolo, which will definitely gain in complexity and elegance with a little maturation. Serve it, for example, with dishes with veal, lamb, beef or game. Also goes well with mature white mold cheeses.

The Vietti winery is located in the district of Langhe in Piedmont – more precisely by the village of Castiglione Falletto, which is particularly known for its Barolo wines. The winery was founded at the end of the 19th century by Carlo Vietti and thanks to the following generations, several vineyards have since been acquired – including some of the most highly regarded “Cru’s” in Barolo.

The 1960s became a decisive era for the company, when Luciana Vietti married the famous winemaker and art connoisseur, Alfredo Currado, who was the first to produce single-vineyard wines (from, among others, the cru vineyard Rocche di Castiglione), making him two an important trendsetter in Barolo. Son Luca Currado and his wife, Elena, then took over the company and continued Alfredo’s life’s work with the same enthusiasm and striving to produce top-class wines. In 2016, however, Vietti was sold to the Krause family, who run a chain of convenience stores in the United States and who love Barolo. However, it has been agreed that both Luca Currado and brother-in-law Mario Cordero will continue to run the company unchanged, so that they can continue and further develop the Vietti family’s life’
